Why Could Be Killing You?

Did you know that asking yourself why questions can depress you, cripple you and even kill your spirit?

How many times have you said to yourself questions like this?

Why is this happening to me?

Why did she leave me for someone else?

Why doesn't my job appreciate me?

Why don't my children listen to me?

Why do I work to just pay bills?

I think that you get the picture.

Why questions could be killing you?

Let me explain. Look at the first question from the why question list.

Why is this happening?
Asking yourself this question causes you to examine several things within yourself and build an inside and outside case against yourself. Now if you are building a case upon yourself from the inside out then you are placing yourself not only in trouble but you are psychologically and emotionally brainwashing yourself to be your own worst enemy.

I say this because you will relentlessly look for reasons that not only answer the question but they will make you feel worst about yourself. The will provide a self sabotaging effect to you.

Why questions urge us to find reasons to have our own pity parties. This breeds within us the desire to share some of our answers with other people. Causing our pity party to grow in size, purpose and negative energy that zaps our entire beings.

This is the main reason why could be killing you.

Each one of these why questions prime you to open a huge Pandora's box of problems.

The lightning fast way to change this and get a grip is by asking yourself what questions?

What questions empower you to build resolve 2 fight against situations and builds optimism within.

Instead of asking yourself why is this happening to me.
You ask yourself what questions like this:

What can I learn from this situation?

What people do I know who may have gone through this situation?

What visual pictures can I use to help me gain strength?

What can I do right now to help get me out of this situation?

What people can help me get out of this situation?

What short-term and mid-term goals can I set for myself?

What is my complete freedom plan to bring me from trouble to triumph?

See how you have changed your whole strategy just with simply changing the type of questions you ask yourself.

Let's do another one really quick before I close out this post with this other why question. Why did she leave me for someone else?

What did I do right in this relationship?

What did I do wrong in this relationship?

What did she do right in this relationship?

What did she do wrong in this relationship?

What did I learn about myself in this relationship?

What great qualities do I have to bring to a relationship?

What good to great quality traits do I want in a possible mate?

That pretty much does it for today.

Now you know What to do.

Challenges

Life is filled with various mazes of challenges.
The art of it all is keep moving to go through the mazes to find your way out.

Without challenges life would be boring.

Without challenges your character would never be strengthened.

Without challenges you would remain with an infant in mentally, emotionally, psychologically, and spiritually.

What challenge are you facing today?

What setback are you having right now?

Challenges should be met with focus, a game plan, resilience, and the faith to make it through the different mazes of challenges.

"There are no great men, only great challenges that ordinary men are forced by circumstances to meet." Bob Proctor

Ants & Success

I can recall it as if it was yesterday. I was a just a small boy reading through a magazine. My eyes became binoculars excitement kept me focused upon an advertisement about Ant cities. The more that I read the more the ad put me into trance stirring thoughts of owning my very own Ant city.

Ants have always been fascinating creatures that I loved. An ant city was just what I wanted. But would my parents agree was the real question. My curious adventure side went into overdrive. That is when I decided to create my own Ant city. Now I really had something. This would take me on an adventure that would make the experience that much more fulfilling.

So after finding a jar that I could put the ants in I gathered several from a tree outside my home. The next thing I did was gather dirt to pour inside of the vessel. Then I just observed their ways and actions.

Did you know ants know the secrets to being successful that anyone can apply in their lives right now. Here they are.

The Strength of Ants
Ants have a tremendous strength which allows them to carry twenty times their own body weight. Ants work better as a team than humans. Did U know their combined weight is greater than the combined weight of all humans? That's heavy!

How can we contrast this in our daily lives? Well first and foremost ants find their strength in exercising themselves and their abilities. The message is three-fold.

First exercise is extremely important to our health and success in life. Health is wealth.

Second exercising our abilities takes us into the realm of activity which soon bring us into the presence of achievement.

Third exercising physical strength is good but that is only surface. Mental strength, inner strength, and emotional are extremely important in being able to carry more than our own weight.

Ants Teamwork is Phenomenal

Ants have the uncanny ability to work together as a unit to accomplish the job at hand. Ants communicate through their antenna's. Each one having a specific task to do. Despite any differences they have they get the work done. Now with people it is different. We find so many reasons why we cannot work with each other effectively.

Ants are Extremely Productive Creatures

Ants are extremely productive creatures. They know what they have to do and they let nothing stop them from being productive and accomplishing their tasks. We can be the same way. We can accomplish this by keeping laser sharp focus on our objectives working towards them everyday and in every way.

Ants are Earth's Most Successful Creatures

Ants are known as earth's most successful creatures. I believe that they are successful because they remain consistent in giving their best when they are at work. They never lose focus and we should ever lose focus in achieving our dreams, objectives and quotas in life.

Ant's are never half-stepping. They always go hard. They are also master builders who dedicate their lives to their jobs the way athletes dedicate their lives to their sport.

We have to learn to be master builders who are always constructing the type of life that we want. Why should we have less than what we can build or wait for someone else to build it for us?

When I made my first Ant city I found out that no matter how much dirt I poured into that vessel they always drilled holes in the dirt making tunnels and rose above the dirt.

You can too by applying these principles to your life. No matter where you are in life you have the ability to rise above the dirt. Now get on your job and work towards being successful in all that you do.

Metaphoric Genius

Do you remember the last time that you heard a good story?

Remember how the words painted a picture in your imagination. The words painted pictures so that we imagined bringing to life in our minds those words which we heard.

Metaphors make the world go around. Our minds think in metaphors.

This is why Jesus preached using metaphors because the mind retains and understand that which was unknown much better with metaphoric pictures.

Now let me share with you the three types of metaphor that I want to share with you.

Educational Metaphors-Are metaphors that teach people and educating them. The best educational metaphors enlighten people. They are the kinds of metaphors that are simple plain and profound.

Here are a couple:

Life is a baseball game where you cannot score unless you step up to the plate and take your best swings at the pitches thrown at you.

Antonio is a thief of hearts. Ladies look out.

Personal Metaphors_ Are metaphors that are tailor made to fit those who you are delivering a message. If you are talking with a lawyer you would use metaphors that are familiar with them? If you were speaking to a doctor you would use metaphors that are familiar?

Here are two examples of them:

Metaphor 4 lawyer
Joey says he loves you but his actions gives powerful testimony against him.

Metaphor for a Doctor
Professionally, I don't like the way this guy operates.

Notice how the both of these metaphoric statements take familiar things that are familiar with both parties and utilizes them in a sentence to paint a picture for them to understand more clearer.

Action Based Metaphor- Tells a story filled with action bringing it to life.

Here is an example:

My problems were coming faster than I could duck, block or dodge them.

Now you know all three types of metaphors. Let me let you in on a little secret.

Are you ready for it?

The most powerful metaphors that you can use is by combining all three types into one. First get used to using each one and then learn how you can combine all three together in a one shot deal.

I'm gonna close with a paragraph created from action based sentence that combines all three for you.

My problems were coming faster than I could duck, block or dodge them.
They were pounding upon me in rapid succession. Before I knew it my body became a folding chair. I tried catching my balance but I ended up on the canvass with blurry vision. However, something within me knew I had to get back on my feet eve with blurred vision. So I grabbed a hold of the ropes pulling myself up from the mat.

The Laws of Transforming Behavior

I get a kick out of watching someone go through a makeover. I watch Good Day NY on channel five here in NYC. I can recall a woman who works there when she first started out who was very homely. After months went by I don't know what happened but I began seeing a change in this woman.

I really don't know if she got a new boyfriend, a co-worker gave her some tips, or just decided she needed a makeover. What I do know is that she no longer dresses frumpy and she looks as though she feels really good about herself and that's what's important.

I want 2 briefly discuss how we can all experience this very same transformation as this news personality did.

Law 1 The Law of Focus
The law of focus is where your focus is energy follows and it either rises or falls and expands or shrinks depending upon the power of your energy and emotions attached to it.

Let's take the news personality. At first her focus wasn't upon what type of clothing she wore. Now whatever the influence her focus changed. Once the focus changed she continues to dress in a more appealing fashion of clothing that compliments her age and her beauty.

Law 2 The Law of Self Observation
This is one of the most important laws to changing and transforming your behavior. A drug addict who doesn't recognize themselves as having a problem will never seek getting clean. However, when they acknowledge having a problem that needs to address they are more willing to take the necessary steps to change their lives.

We need to learn how to master our attention and energy. When we are able to do this change comes easier.

The news personality lady I mentioned earlier had a wake-up call from whoever and once she acknowledged how she was being perceived she was able to make a consistent change.

This is one of the hardest laws because oftentimes it is hard for us to see how people perceive us and it is also extremely difficult for us to see that we have a problem that needs addressing.

Law 3 Practice Makes Perfect
Practice makes perfect makes Tiger Woods, Serena Williams, and Floyd Mayweather Jr. remain n top of their games in their respective sports. It is not that they are just great athletes. They practice by working hard to perfect their crafts and excel in them.

Our news personality lady continues to step up her fashion game on Good Day New York to look her very best.

Law 4 Practicing Working Harder
There is a very distinct difference in practicing something and practicing working harder. When you practice something you do it in a way of routine. When you practice working harder you commit yourself for something greater than the norm. You allow yourself to stretch outside the confines of the usual into the unusual.

You dedicate yourself to working harder to be the very best person that you can be in the realm of your talent. You are not satisfied with running your normal 2 laps so you push yourself to go five.

Now watch this carefully I am going to use the United States military as an example to make this as plain as day.

Examining Law 1 The Law of Focus
1st The help you to alter your focus by telling you that you belong to Uncle Sam and you no longer are a civilian. They strip you of your normal clothing and provide you with a new wardrobe, new home, you go to and through boot camp to physically break you into the military lifestyle and you become a part of a completely larger family of the United States.

Examining Law 2 The Law of Self Observation
2nd The military makes sure that you know how to carry yourself and act as a soldier. Daily you have to do drills, following procedures and analyzing yourself to be the best that you can become. As you progress you are given awards and you move up through the ranks.

Examining Law 3 The Law of Practice Makes Perfect
3rd The military makes sure that you practice your drills, report for duty and show up and complete all of your assignments or you will be penalized. The more practice the better you become as an officer of the military.

Examining Law 4 The Law of Practicing Working Harder
4th The military makes sure that life is not going to be easy for you. They push you to become greater, stronger, faster and better than you were. They know that with practice comes hard work and along with it great transformation.

Life Changing Quotes

I have to admit I love reading quotes. I even write my own. I have found some of the most inspirational comfort, strength and insight from quotes from people from all walks of life.

I want to share a few of my favorites with you. It is my wish that they will be as helpful or even more helpful to you as they were to me. I will give you the backdrop of each quote before sharing it.

Ten years ago we were having an afternoon church program in which I was called up to participate along with several other people. We each had to gather small pieces of paper from out of a cap and do what the paper said.

I reached into the black cap not knowing what to expect. When I opened up the paper it told me to recite the written words. I have never forgotten those words because they have had an amazing impact upon my life. Here are the words I shared I shared with the congregation and I now share them with you.

"To be a champion, you have to believe in yourself when nobody else will." Sugar Ray Robinson

The first time that I read this quote i didn't know who wrote it. But the moment I read the words they became my motto. I made this quote my motto because I call myself the comeback kid. Every time I have lost something or someone I have always been able to comeback stronger and having more than what I lost in the first place.

Here they are:

"A setback is a setup for a comeback." Author Unknown

I was never satisfied with just seeing those words at the end of the quote. That is because I needed to find out who made this profound quote because it continuously has amazing impact upon my life. In my quest I found out that Willy Joppy is the creator of the quote and has a book entitled that.

"A setback is a setup for a comeback." Willy Joppy

I want to share one more quote and with this I will bid you farewell. This quote was found most recently. I had it posted in my office at work. It is extremely powerful. Mind blowing in every facet and life changing in every dimension when it is comprehended fully.

In fact, it hung up in my office for weeks before I truly gleamed all the knowledge wisdom and understanding found in the quote.

I warn you that it must be dissected to get the full impact. So let me share it then we will dissect it and be blown away. Here is the quote:

"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore,is not an act but a habit."
Aristotle

1st We are what we repeatedly do? Now what is it that you repeatedly do? Do you complain, start trouble, help people, con people, steal from people etc. etc. Whatever it is that we repeatedly do we are.

2nd Excellence, therefore is not an act but a habit. So what we repeatedly do makes us experts in that particular area.

Whatever you do, be it good or bad you become excellent at it. I want you to ponder all the things that you repeatedly do on a daily basis?

I want you to relax and think on this for two minutes. Give yourself time to reflect on your routine.

Why not work on the good habits you have.

The key to life is developing good habits that you become excellent in. Now let us read the quote again and I will see you next time.

"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore,is not an act but a habit."
Aristotle

The 4 Levels of Communication & Application

Communication is the cornerstone of every relationship. It is unfortunate that many people do not even know the four levels of communication. In my post "Listening" I briefly identified them for you.

What I want to do now is elaborate upon them. This will give you broader insight of communication.

It is imperative that every living being understand the four levels of communication. I say this because we all have to communicate with people. Allow me to be as blunt as possible when we fail to reach the depth of all four levels all that we say and share is small talk.

In other words you are shortchanging yourself of having a more dynamic communication connection with your audience being one or more people.

When we are able to talk on all four levels we will have a greater understanding of what is being said to us and how to get our points across more effectively

The 4 Levels of Communication

1. Facts-What are the facts? Just the facts Ma'am
Let me speak on facts for a moment. Remember opening the newspaper or magazine to that front page article that your eyes were glued upon. You were in a hypnotic trance where you wanted to know all the facts to the headline of the article. The headline contained a certain portion of facts.

Let me crystallize this to an actual scenario and expand on it through all four levels.

Jack sees Jill walking by so he calls out excuse me can you tell me the time?

Jill looks upon her wrist at her watch, smiles, and respond with it is 12:20.

She just shared a fact about the time to Jack.

2. Meaning-What does it all mean?
Jack is close enough to see Jill's watch. Jack replies "thank you very much. Your watch compliments your outfit and your beauty."

Jill now learns that Jack not only wanted to know the time but he is very observant. She also wonders if this is a pick up ploy or is he just being friendly and complementing her.

She is trying to figure out the meaning of Jack's approaching. It is the wonder about what does it all mean. This meaning of it all will soon be revealed if the conversation continues on from it's introduction and response.

3. Feelings-How does that make you feel?
Jill responds "I see that you are very observant person and thank you for the compliment. What's the name of that cologne that you are wearing it can get a girl in trouble because it smells so good?"

Jack realizes that she is sharing her feelings with him and that is opening the door to take the conversation to another level.

When feelings are shared in conversation it opens the door to deeper conversation and it moves you in various ways. What happens when something or someone touches you. You experience a deeper communication that moves you internally.

4. Intent- What are your intentions?
The final level of communication is intention. What was or is your intention behind this conversational thought. When you know a person's intention in a conversation it reveals the truth about where they stand on an issue.

Now back to Jack and Jill to complete the picture and close this thing out
.

Jack smiles at Jill. Stares into her eyes says " My name is Jack. He extends his hand Jill replies "I'm Jill."

Jack replies "I would like to get better acquainted with you over a nice Latte and you can inhale my cologne I can make you laugh and we can have a great time in a very short time.

Jill says alright and they both walk off to the nearest Starbucks.

Now the picture is painted you get a better understanding of all 4 levels of communication and application. At the end of the day the compliment given by Jack opened the door for he and Jill to have communication on all levels and they will never forget that moment.

This could be you. The choice is yours though. You can stick to small talk with no real connection when you meet people or you can settle with conversations that flow on all four levels.

Intention is the acclamation point of communication. Intention echoes a reverberating truth that shakes the world and causes things to happen in your life.

Until next time remember to share the wisdom of words with everyone you come into contact with in life.

The Power of Metaphors

There is explosive power in metaphors. A writer understands when they utilize metaphors they vividly enhances their story through word pictures. When readers are given a visual that they are familiar with it not only solidifies a statement but it brings to life an experience. An experience that is readily embraced and rather hard to let go.

As a writer I try to use them every chance I get to make my point clear. That is why Jesus preached in parables (metaphors) that everyone could understand and his ministerial movement was immeasurable.

Our brains think in pictures. The more commonly we use metaphors the easier the material is to remember. The more it becomes a part of us.

Tell me which description works better for you.

1st. Sentence
Lacey chases behind Billy determined to catch him before he get away.

2nd. Sentence
Lacey chases Billy down like a cop in hot pursuit of an escaped convict on the run.

Notice how the first sentence gives you information but the second sentence not only gives you information but a visual.

I mean how many of you have seen a police officer chasing behind a criminal. The second sentence brings the chase to life.

What about this Michael Jackson lyric?

You've been hit by a smooth criminal.

1st Sentence
Bobby is mad so he got out of his seat, left out and slammed the door behind him.

2nd Sentence
Bobby's face twisted as it turned fire engine red, he popped up,walked out and slamming the door behind him causing the walls to tremble.

By now you are realizing the power of using metaphors in your daily life.

I suggest utilizing metaphors more to explain yourself when talking. You will see that people will remember what you share with them more. You will also see for yourself that people will be more intrigued by your communication skills.

I use metaphors to empower myself. Here are a few I like to use which help me in tough times.

I'm a warrior

I'm a boxer

I'm a champion

I'm a body builder of righteousness

You can use them too or come up with your own. They work wonders.

In closing, remember to pack your speech with metaphors so people will be inspired to have more enjoyable communication with you.

Have fountain of forgiveness in your heart today, because someone will do something to warrant your forgiveness.

Listening

We enjoy talking and communicating with one another. Some of us enjoy talking more than others do. The funny thing is we do so much talking that we forget how to listen.

When I talk about listening, I am talking about really listening by paying attention to everything a person is saying before cutting them off. I find that talkative people cannot help themselves sometimes when it comes to cutting someone off in mid sentence.

We can do more to be effective in our listening. Here is an outstanding new trick I use called visually pushing the mute button. Whenever you are pushing the mute button on yourself, visualize pushing the remote control mute button on yourself. I know it can be hard for some. When you give yourself a powerful picture of a situation it is easier to understand and do. I will talk about the power of metaphors tomorrow that you do not want to miss.

Stop speaking and start listening attentively. We can learn so much about a person, situation, item, business deal, etc. when we listen attentively. Pushing the mute button helps us greater understand what is being said to us without prejudice.

Secondly, the next way we can learn to listen effectively is by imagining that you are a sponge soaking up all that the person is sharing with you. Whether they are both good and bad. A sponge soaks up spills. When communicating with someone absorb what they say allowing yourself to be filled with what they have just shared with you. A sponge keeps on absorbing. Think of yourself as a sponge that keeps absorbing what they are saying.

There are some things that you may not agree with but just hear them out. Allow them to share with you that which is on their minds.

If you fail to do so, you are merely talking to someone. Talking is being selfish while communicating is sharing information.

There are millions of talkers in the world. Where are my millions of communicators? Those who are masters at the art of give and take in communication.

Third, we must become reporters recapping the highlights of the words they shared with us trying to capture the meaning for clarity. When a person we are speaking to stops, we should make sure they are finished making their statement. Start recapping the vital points they shared with us before beginning to respond.

We can paraphrase what they shared with us in our opening response to their statements or thoughts. This lets the person know that we are being attentive to their words. It also enhances the other parties respect for us.

As reporters, recapping the highlights of their words we also ask the most effective questions to our listeners. Questions that deal with all four levels of communicating.

The 4 Levels of Communication

1. Facts-What are the facts? Just the facts Ma'am

2. Meaning-What does it all mean?

3. Feelings-How does that make you feel?

4. Intent- What are your intentions?
T

Listening attentively to people allows us all to go deeper into all four levels of communication. It is extremely beneficial to all parties involved.

Talking

When was the last time you had a nice conversation with someone?

I'm talking about a conversation that you really felt connected, inspired and uplifted by your talk. I can recall plenty of times when I walk into a conversation of that magnitude. There is nothing like it in the world. A good conversation can work wonders for you.

One of the most meaningful talks in life is the talking that we have with ourselves. Self-talk. Yes we all talk to ourselves whether you admit it or not.

Self-talk is what we tell ourselves about ourselves daily. We are all masters at self-talk. There are only two kinds of self-talk though.

Positive self-talk and negative self-talk.

Exploring Negative Self-Talk:

I'm stupid. Where does this statement stem from?
Is it something my parents, teachers, fellow classmates? Stupid is a stereotypical name that people use to limit you and your potential to become all that you can. The word stupid is a venomous snakebite that paralyzes those who allow it to strike them.

I can't do it. Who told you that you couldn't?
The more you use this statement upon yourself the more you believe it.

I'm not good with people. Why do you think that?
Even if you have been in situations, where you didn’t do good around people you can change that. The more you are around people the more comfortable you become around them.

I'm clueless when it comes to women or men. What makes you think that cannot change? You can learn from the best to win and keep the best.

I'm not smart. When did you get that idea?
People use words to stereotype and pigeon hole you. Do not allow them to do so. Smart is not a state of mind it is a state of being. You must realize this to become all that you can be in this lifetime.

Every one of us has our own words and phrases that make up our negative self-talk. The key to life is correcting them like typos in a document. Become more alert of your negative self-talk so whenever you find yourself saying your negative statements stop yourself and say cancel.

Then replace it with a Positive one in its place.

Exploring Positive Self-Talk

I am smart. This statement gives you a sense of ability and known confidence to become smarter.

I can do this. Allows you to visualize your ability, infuses you with determination to become better at it. Also gives you the incentive to master it.

That was easy. This empowers you to do things effortlessly. It gives you an invincible belief in your ability to do this with ease and not break a sweat.

For example, fixing a car is easy for a mechanic because their trained in the art of fixing vehicles. The more they do it the easier it becomes for them.

I’m attractive. The statement gives you a sense of awareness that you are beautiful. It raises your confidence level to new heights.

I’m a magnetic person. This metaphor acts as a powerful belief which has a tremendous effect upon you and those who come into contact with you.

I’m very confident in my abilities. This statement gives you the confidence in yourself and abilities that will magnify and multiply with time.

Talking can change your life on a grand scale. You must become a master at positive self-talk to change your thinking and your life for the better.

Do You Remember...

Do you remember the first time you seen Farrah Fawcett walk across the television screen on Charlie's Angels?

Her hypnotic beauty kept me in a trance as a young boy turning my heart into a wild bongo. An angel.

The epitome of sexiness echoing to the world I am woman, I am strong, I am sexy and I will kick your butt if you get out of line and I will make a difference.

These three sexy, very capable private investigating women came into our living rooms and we nor the world would ever be the same again.

Talking about a movement they kicked in the door forever changing the way women are viewed and what they could do.

This started a whole revolution known as the battle of the sexes. Farrah Fawcett's meteoric rise to fame took on an energy that transcended the Charlie's Angel's show.

Farrah's Fawcettt's pinup one piece steamy red bathing suit poster reportedly sold 12 million copies. That's amazing for anyone to sell that many posters. Especially when they are not a superstar athlete of the 1970's.

In fact, it is the bestselling poster of all times. She changed the game. Fawcett was a force to reckon with who wanted to prove to the world she was more than just a pretty face but a good actress as well.

When she came out with the explosive television movie The Burning Bed it was a wrap. Farrah proved to the world that she was a serious actress solidifying that she was versatile and was here to stay.

We watched in amazement her fairy tale romance with longtime leading man Ryan O' Neal who loved her dearly. Yesterday she passed from battling a rare form of cancer. My prayers are with her family, friends and all of the people whose lives she impacted.

I can remember.

The first time Michael Jackson and the Jackson five dazzled me singing dancing machine. An intoxicating high flooded my entire being. I begin bopping my head, dancing to the beat uncontrollably in an excitement trance. The music took complete control over me. Never had I experienced a slew of emotions from hearing a song before.

I became a ride or die fan from that moment.

Not a day would go by that I didn't watch the Jackson 5 show, cartoon and so fourth. Michael Jackson is one of the greatest entertainers to walk the face of this earth.

His amazing career that started at a ripe young age. A child prodigy who absolutely idolized James Brown and Jackie Wilson.

There has never been an artist who has touched so many lives in various generations from young to old. My niece Armani who's only 4 and a half dances to Michael Jackson every day and loves him.

Whenever you're at a party and a Michael Jackson song comes on you know the party is just getting started and going to a whole other atmosphere.

Michael Jackson broke so many barriers in music along with mesmerizing people around the world with his ability to create timeless music.

When his video debuted on MTV the whole music business changed, he rocked the world with an echoing 10.5 earthquake of amazement.

He is a true trendsetter, musicality genius, dancing machine like no other, a bad mother shut your mouth, a perfectionist's metaphor of greatness, possibly and arguably the greatest entertainer of all times.

Michael Jackson's Thriller will forever be the number one best-selling album of all time. He did it all. His musical legacy will last for an eternity. He has influenced billions of people in his artistry, influenced infinite legions of musicians that transcends race, religion, and genres.

James Brown passed the torch 2 times to his little brother Michael Jackson before he passed. Michael became a ferociously unstoppable running back in the music game that nothing or nobody could stop.

Michael took the music game to another galaxy because he was light years ahead of the game and his time which truly transcends the name King of Pop. Michael Jackson is the king of music.

I am literally writing through tears because I can remember every video I ever watched of MJ's like yesterday. He was a master craftsman in every since of the word.

Yesterday while at home working on my blogs my daughter Amanda contacted me on Facebook IM asking me is it true dad that Michael Jackson is dead.

I only knew earlier he was rushed to the hospital after going into cardiac arrest.

The fear of possible truth flashes through me faster than falling star. I turned on Channel 7 Eyewitness News which confirmed that the King of Pop is dead at 50.

Michael Jackson, I pray made peace with God before his untimely demise. I want to see him in soul heaven playing with all the other greatest musicians that ever lived. My prayers are with the family, friends and everyone whose life he has touched.

I can remember when Michael Jackson did the same by passing the torch on to Usher

Remember that.

Usher go hard and rep for your idol baby.

Michael was the epitome of Dr. Feelgood.

We will never forget for your music, your craft, and artistry.

It is immortal.

Michael Jackson forever.

Optimistic Pessimism

Optimistic and pessimistic people make the world go round. They are two different perspective views on life. I have friends and associates who are both. I am an optimist myself. Those are the glasses that I see the world through.

In most recent years I have realized that my prescription needed to be changed. So I went to have my prescription updated. Now I can see much better. I have a pair of upgraded bifocals which have optimistic pessimism lenses.

I am so loving these babies too because I look so stylish in them.

They have some pretty amazing features which allows me to see both the bright side as well as the dark side of things.

I can see the positive as well as the negative.

I can see both sides without prejudice.

You know what makes them better than any glasses I have owned in the future.

These lenses are helping me see the negative sides of some possible business investments that normally my optimistic side would probably jump too.

My new lenses allow me to stop being so prejudice of those who have chosen to stay one sided in their approach to life. Whether they are optimistic or pessimistic.

The key to life is wearing a pair of glasses which allows you to see all the opportunities, your situations, and all that the world has to offer you in High Definition in a kaleidoscope of colors.

Experience

You have heard the saying experience is the best teacher. Well I want to add this too it experience teaches many different levels of lessons.

I want to briefly discuss the levels of lessons experience teaches.

Level 1 is Easy
Level 2 is Moderate
level 3 is Slightly Above Moderate
Level 4 is Hard
Level 5 is Harder
Level 6 is Expert
Level 7 is Mastermind

Now let me explain the different levels of lessons in experience.

Let's say Jack is usually a pushover who goes through life being picked on and often walked on.

Level 1 of this lesson is getting courage to speak up for himself so this doesn't happen as often as it has. That sounds easy to do to us.

Jack has to want to change this problem. It is easy but he is only the first level.

The more Jack stands up for himself he becomes stronger and he is presented with new lessons and challenges that bring him to another level.

Jack is now presented with second level lessons where his boss and co-workers find ways to take advantage of him. Until he stands up for himself it will continue and then one day he does it at the office in a meeting and everyone is shocked. But now he has gain the respect of his co-workers and his boss.

His life is changing now.

Jack usually allows his women to run all over him. Changing this problem is going to be harder than the other lessons. Level 3 brings with it new challenges. He realizes now how his life has been changed from speaking up for himself.

After Cassandra who is Jack's girlfriend starts her usual tantrum rituals to get her way way with him. He responds by telling her I am no longer falling for those tricks anymore. If you love me, respect me and want to be with me you will address me with respect. From this day forward if you want to be with me you will no longer act in this fashion r you will be replaced by someone who can do that for me.

I am no longer setting for this nonsense.

I would continue but I believe you get the point now. What do you want to experience in your life today that you haven't?

It's time for you to get like Jack by making things happen for you.

Stop sitting around complaining about your experience and step your game up by being willing to go through the various levels of experience to make your life that much better.

Cheers to a better you, that starts right now.

Remember

Do you remember that moment of your very first kiss?

I sure do and I will never forget it. My kiss came from a beautiful girl named Tanya.

She was gorgeous banana custard complexioned with freckles, had an hourglass shape and was the first girl I watched the sunrise with while holding hands.

Tanya was my first puppy love.

I remember the two of us walking upstairs towards my apartment we embraced at my door and the kiss seemed like an eternity. Fireworks are going off in my mind, my palms are getting sweaty and I have never been kissed this way before. We were locked in a passionate moment.

The next thing I know I heard the lock from my apartment door unlock, Tanya broke out of my arms, flew down the stars faster than a cheetah and my mother opened the door. I was still in awe from the kiss and shocked at how fast this girl could move.

I don't know if my mother saw us kissing through the peep hole or just heard movement by the door but it still cracks me up to this day.

I enjoy reminiscing a lot on different things. Especially to times or things when I was triumphant inn a cause or goal. By turning back the pages of my life when I was achieving something and think of how I felt at that particular moment.

By capturing that whole experience I flash back to the present remembering I championed over something before and take on that very same persona in the present to help me be triumphant once again.

Simply because I've been there done that. And with this same determination I will be triumphant again.

You can utilize this method to do several things. I go back to times when I am persuasive, happy, magnetic, and take on that very same persona in the present to help me sell items, make others happy, make friends easily whatever.

Next time you are faced with a challenge that you may be unfamiliar with think back to a time when you were successful. If you need to think of several times when you were successful do that?

Remember how you felt, what you saw, how you walked, talked and all. Then zoom back to the present feeling how you felt in the past to take on your new challenge and see what happens.

Impact

What kind of impact are you having on the people that you come into contact with and meet?

Think about it for a while while I share a story with you.

The other day while searching for a place to grab a bite to eat I walked around a bit searching to find a place that I would like. Block after block feet pounding the pavement, my eyes scanning restaurants, and my mind fixated on so many things at once.

I walked into a Pizzeria decided upon an eggplant parmigiana hero. I stepped up to the counter to place my order when in walks a gentleman off of the street and the counter person bypassed me and went to the gentleman as thought I wasn't even there.

He decided to address him first as I spoke up to him saying I was here first. At that moment I decided I didn't want to spend my money at any place who overlooked serving me.

That one gesture had an impact upon me and my decision to spend my money or eat there. I will never again in life step in there again.

Now back to my question I asked in the beginning. What kind of impact are you having on people you come into contact with and meet?

Are people meeting you and saying there is something different about this person?

Are they saying that this person is not the type of person I enjoy being around?

Are they saying I really like this person?

You don't have to spend a lot of time with a person to have an impact upon them. Everything you do and say has an impact upon someone or something. So make sure you have a positive impact upon them instead of a negative one.

It's easy to have a negative impact upon a person so why not strive to have more of a positive impact upon people.

Keep in mind a positive impact lasts longer by working wonders on the person you have it on. In closing, it is my desire that this blog is having an impact upon your life.

2 Pertinent Questions

There are really two pertinent questions in life. Two of the biggest online sites pose them to their users.

The first is Facebook's famous "What's on Your Mind?

The second is Twitter's "What Are Your Doing?

These very questions are pertinent to our life's direction. After all, what you think most about along with strong feelings you attract into your life. Let me give you an example of what I mean.

Since I love food I'm gonna give you an analogy dealing with food.

A chef thinks about food often. The many different ways he or she prepares meals and serves them to come up with new ways. New dishes and so fourth. The more open their minds become the easier it becomes for them to create something new and exciting. The more they focus on achieving this creation the broader their abilities become to perfecting the dish maybe even making it into their specialty.

The end result is people as well as critics raving about their creation.

I want you to analyze what you think about mostly the way a chef analyzes what they want to create. Do you see how very important that we spend our time thinking mostly about creating an amazing dish (outcome) that we specialize in.

Now let's move on to Twitter's question "What Are You Doing?

I love this question because it is my niece Armani's favorite question to ask me "what Are Your Doing Uncle?

The funny thing about this question is it is a trick question. The reason I call it a trick question is you can answer it more than 1 way. It is a trick question because it all depends on your perception of the question. So it has a way of playing mind games with you.

When asked this question I can reply writing my blog post. This would be true.

However, in reality not only am I writing this post but I am thinking about all the things I have to do today and thinking about the people I love the most and mean the world to me.

Even when I answer the question in a more detailed way it still doesn't scratch the surface. I mean it sounds good when you hear those words because they are heartfelt but the core of the question is deeper than what we see on the surface.

The core question screams out something totally different. Something different that asks us these questions.

What are you doing with your life?

What are you doing with your relationship?

What are you doing with your finances?

What are you doing with this job?

What are you doing with your God given talents and abilities?

When we get to the core of these two questions we can see the profound ability they have to change our thinking and change our life.

Don't you want to change your life for the better?

Until next time, be well, enjoy life, and make today the best day that you can.

Diligent Student: Always Learning

I dropped out of high school and never looked back. I mean not until I turned twenty two years old decided to take and my high school equivalency. I needed to finish what I started.

Some may think that that was a bad decision on my part. There are times when I think of what i would have been if I stayed in high school where I would be now. I mean who doesn't think about paths that you could have taken instead of the ones you chose. I mean that is a simple human nature.

I am very fortunate that I have always been a diligent student of life. I never stopped learning even after i left school. Everyday I am learning new things in different areas that have really contributed to my life.

My dedication to excellence has allowed me to be:

Featured in 2007 1st Edition Marquis Who’s Who of Emerging Leaders
Featured in 2006 - 2007 Marquis Who’s Who in Business and Finance
Featured in 2005 & 2004 Marquis Who’s Who in America

I would say that is a good start for a late bloomer in the business world.

There are many more things that I am working on. I will keep them hush, hush for now but you will soon see what I am talking about.

Everyday I am striving to become a better writer, a better father, a better mate, a better entrepreneur, a better lover. I am not satisfied with being good at who I am I am striving towards excellence in every area of my life.

It is so important to be a diligent student who have teachers from all ages and every walk of life. Teachers of all ages and all walks of life. I admit I learn from business moguls, entertainers, children, and so many others who I don't even have enough paper to cover them all.

They all have something viable to share and pour into my life. I learned from a young child to learn all that you can because life is short and also work on improving and reinventing yourself.

Life is filled with an abundance of lessons to help you become a better you. Along with each lessons comes a big reward. The sooner you learn the lessons the more rewards you will get to experience and enjoy in life.

Omnipotent Words

We are made in the image of God. It is very important that we understand what that means. What it means is that we have within us tremendous god like powers within. Let me crystallize this truth to make it clear by turning the volume up so that it resounds in your ears and heart.

Being created in his image means He created us in a way that we resemble His likeness. How can can humanity resemble His divinity?

Well first and foremost he shaped us with His hands the same way he formed Adam from the dust of the earth and He breathed the breath of life into his and our nostrils.

Which means that we are shaped in omnipotence, filled with God's breath of life, imparted with the Holy Ghost and have the power to create worlds of goodness.

Are you following me.

This means that there is something about you that many of us overlook throughout the course of our lives. That is the creating and procreating part of our lives. Many of us believe our ability to create and procreate has to do with coming together with our mates making love and baring children. To be fruitful and multiply.

But it is much deeper than that.

In order to really grasp the fullness of creating we have to watch the Master of the universe at work in the book of Genesis. Here we see in the beginning the earth is without form and void and the Spirit of God moving upon the surface of waters and saying let there be light.

Let me stop right there because this the divine concept that I want to bring into your awareness. Nothing existed on earth accept darkness and a huge body of water and God moved upon it and spoke.

He spoke omnipotent words and when He Spoke it it showed up.

Through the vibration of His commanding voice let there be an explosion of creative light happened and everything else happened in accordance to His word. Since we are made in his image we have the power of omnipotent words too.

It is just that we express them more by tearing things down instead of building them up. You can create with omnipotent words that which you want in accordance with His will.

And guess what God wants the very best for you.

Start reciting I am a child of the king. I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me. Use these omnipotent words to make your life better than it has ever been. You can create a world of beauty with your words. You can create radiance in the midst of life's darkest moments.

You can create a breath of fresh air to all those you come into contact with by using the power of omnipotent words. Use them more and more each day. Pretty soon you will see your own garden of Eden filled with the joys and prosperity of heaven itself.

You have the power to do that because you are made in the image of God.

Now as you are realizing more and more the what omnipotent words can do for you. You are feeling the desire to use them to change your life right now. Go out there speak life into existence enjoy the moment and live the life that God ordained for you.

Words Can Change Your Life

What I am about to share with you is going to profoundly change your life. So relax, get comfortable, listen carefully and learn this life changing lesson I am about to bestow upon you.

Many people cannot kick certain habits and addictions because of word associations that they have accepted and embraced. Let's take a person who went to prison before. The system along with society call and refer to this individual an ex-con.

Notice how they have paid their debt to society however notice how the name still bares witness of the fact that they are sill looked upon as an ex-con.

Now what would happen if you totally eliminate the name ex-con completely from the person's vocabulary and viewpoint things begin to change at that very moment.

We must learn how to strip ourselves of negative connotations which bind us to certain behaviors.

When a school child has difficulty learning school people call him either dumb, stupid or illiterate to pigeonhole him in a bad place. Sooner or later the child embraces these names psychologically accepting it as truth and works continues to mudslide down the hill.

Stop because words can change your life for the good or bad. Many of us are master of saying bad things about ourselves and others.

We say some of the worst things to ourselves when we fail at something. How many times have you been in a situation where you get burned and you verbally tell yourself I always run into people who manage to screw my life up.

The more you tell yourself that the more your subconscious accepts it. The more it accepts this information as truth the more it helps you attract these types of individuals into your life.

Your subconscious is constantly looking for word pictures to help manifest your most emotionally charged thoughts to become your ever present reality.

Anytime you find yourself about to say something damaging to yourself or others say stop. Stop or cancel it until you stop saying them.

Stop saying all that negative dog pooh about yourself for you find yourself swimming in it and eventually drowning yourself in it.

I know that sounds disgusting but you get the picture all the same.

I'm going to show you in our next post how to use words to change your life for the better.

Until then my friends live life, be well and enjoy every God given moment.

2 Words

Did you know that their are two words that will hinder, stagnate, and can possibly destroy your potential in life?

I mean throughout the course of a single day the average person uses (6073 male and 8805 female) words. I mean out of all of those words that we speak inn a day it is alarming that these two little words have that much power in our lives.

Let me share them with you really quick. The two words that I am speaking about are none other than "I Can't."

When was the last time that you used those two words?

I know I have used these two little words on many occasion.

Knowingly saying to myself I can't do this task.
Do you want to know what happened I could not do it.

Just reciting this out loud allowed my conscious, subconscious to lock those words into my thinking while controlling body to follow suit and it didn't happen.

Maybe you have told yourself as well as others I can't find the right man or woman I have tried?

Did you tell yourself I can't find a job in this time of economic drought?

Have seen yourself saying these two words on various occasions in different situations and ending with the very same results unable to succeed?

Stop using those words on yourself they will stagnate, hinder and possibly destroy your potential inn life. We can be our own worst enemies sometime.

When was the last time that someone used the words I can't on you?

Recently I was on the telephone with a doctors office trying to get something accomplished over the phone and the lady on the phone told me I'm sorry sir I can't help you.

I needed to speak with my mothers doctor and she did everything in her power for me to not speak with the doctor. That the doctor did not discuss medical business over the phone. I mean this lady was the gatekeeper from hell. I could feel my frustration swelling up.

I paused for a moment took a deep breath and said I see. Well I would like you to put me on to someone who could help me. She told me to call back later because the office was flooded with patients. Needless to say that when I called back I asked to speak with the nurse who was more than helpful and cooperative.

Just from speaking with her I not only was able to find out all that I needed to know but from then on out my mother only received royal treatment every time she comes into that office.

That other woman tried using the words I can't to discourage me. However, because I know and love the power of words and I am not intimidated by the words that people use she couldn't stop me in my tracks.

Stop allowing the words I can't to stop you from acing that test, accomplishing that goal, finding that mate, finding that job, making a better life, finding a new opportunity.

Leave those words I can't out of your vocabulary if you have been using them against yourself . Only use it if you need to use it to empower you to do something or to stop somebody in their tracks.

Until next time make today the best day that you can.

The Power of Words

Saturday night I had the quickest and biggest argument that I have ever had with the love of my life. There were things she said to me that have forever changed things between the both of us. I forgive her for saying them to me. However, I never expected to hear those words of fire blown my direction coming from her lips.

People get upset in life by allowing their emotions to get the best of them and saying some pretty harsh things. Things that are completely unnecessary to say.

Remember to be very mindful about what you say because words spoken to someone can never be taken back. We are all made in the image of God which means our words are omnipotent (all powerful)as God's words. So we have the power to build and destroy.

It is of vital importance that we realize just how powerful our words are. They can be a burst of refreshing energy that transforms the life of another or they can be scud missiles which destroy the very foundations that were so wonderfully built in an instant.

The power of your words are always creating things in your life.

You are constantly speaking into existence the things that you are seeing. If you want your life to change in a magnanimous way filled with grace and beauty learn to speak words that will build the life you so desperately want.

Until next time you must always remember the power of words.

Taste and See

When was the last time that you tried a new dish of food that you never had before that made your taste buds skip for joy like children in a playground? Think about it for a moment.

For me it happened the other day I had a hash brown omelet. Bursting with flavor I salivated wishing I owned the recipe. Never heard of it before that day. My good friend ordered it and let me taste it.

After tasting it I was open like Yankee Stadium on opening day.

Life is the very same way.

Many of us are so caught up with our daily routines, schedules and habits that we never take time out to experience something new in our lives.

Something new that can be a very small but have a profound impact upon us. Now I would never order a hash brown omelet because the sound of it just didn't ring right to me.

I can only imagine if I didn't have an open mind and the willingness to try new things I would have never had such a good experience. I would have missed out completely.

Try something new today that you normally would not.

Your new experience may open you up to a whole world of adventure and enjoyment. Until next time, remember to taste and see the life is good.

Look At This Picture

"A picture is worth a thousand words but your perception is worth five thousand and a sea of emotions."
Arthur R. Barnes

Have you heard the phrase a picture is worth a thousand words? I'm sure you have and if not, you have now.

On Memorial Day after having a huge cookout we went back to my cousins house to continue celebrating. The time spent together that day was mesmerizing. I began snapping pictures of family members because I keep on family pictures on the screen saver of my laptop.

When we gaze into a photo of someone or something many things shoot through our minds. Who is in the picture, where is it at, when was it taken etc. etc? All of these are viable questions we pose to ourselves before asking the photographer or picture holder.

My cousin Cynt pulled out bricks of pictures for my sister Val, her fiancee Reggie and I to come through. My eyes widened in awe because I recently lost pictures of my Aunt Audrey's birthday party that she also had. Thank God for that. Those priceless moments I will never forget and cherish. Cynthia began telling us about photos we were clueless about.

It is only after the enlightenment given by the picture holder that everything becomes crystallized. Before Cynthia's explanations of the pictures, we took a shot at it utilizing our own perceptions attempting to tell the story to ourselves. Perception is one of the most important things we possess as human beings.

Your perception is your reality. Many people only see life through their eyes of perception. You will miss a great deal in life shortchanging yourself a million times if you only use your perception of life. Your perception of life is limited to one view. Many people are stagnated, dazed and confused because of their perceptional views.

Perception is the neurological process of observation and interpretation. (Encarta Dictionary American Edition)

Change your perception change your life.

This is the fastest way to change your life. I'm tired of people running to God asking Him to change them as if he is some fairy god father from a Disney cartoon. He is not. God is not an enabler. He is not quick to do something for you that you can do for yourself. You can change your perception and change your life.

I want to turn your attention to two of the most powerful texts in the Bible on perception. King Solomon is the wisest man that ever lived and here's what he has to say on the matter. "For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Where there is no vision people perish." (Proverbs 23:7;29:18)

Ask yourself, what part(s) of my life is perishing because of my thinking or views?

The Greatest Opportunity

Today is the greatest opportunity for you to change something in your life.

First by analyzing what you want to fix, adjusting it, assign a new habit to counter the old and apply yourself daily to it for at least 21 days until you solidify your new standard.

Now I challenge you to take advantage of your greatest opportunity today.
